Marketing Placement - Soup

My placement at Heinz has been an extremely valuable learning experience. Within Heinz placement students are given lots of responsibility and are provided with the opportunity to work on and lead major projects and initiatives.
I have been able to work on the iconic Heinz soup brand, as well as having the opportunity to assist in New Product Development within the soup category, which has enabled me to participate in areas such as market research, photography and packaging design. I report to a Senior Brand Manager and my role is extremely varied. During the last six months I have learnt about many different aspects of marketing and I am currently leading some promotional activity for the category and a website development project.
What I particularly enjoy is that I have gained a unique overview of all the other different departments within the business, such as sales and finance. This has helped to develop my commercial skills, which will undoubtedly aid me greatly in my final year at university.
