Lucy Cawkwell

Sales and Marketing Graduate

“…I get to work on one of the countries biggest iconic brands which is brilliant.

I am currently in the second half of my graduate training scheme with Heinz. My second position has been within the marketing department as a Brand Marketer on Heinz Baked Beans.

My job is extremely varied but ultimately I have the responsibility for the marketing of the Beanz variants portfolio this includes leading multi disciplinary project teams to implement the annual marketing plan, ensuring the necessary business resources are engaged and effectively managed. Recently this has been in relation to the leadership on the innovation projects for Hidden Veg and Heinz Fully Loaded bean meals as well as being apart of the launch of Snap Pots – a key strategic launch for the business unit.

I also get involved in the financial side of the business, from forecasting, to the control and management of the beans and pasta budget, as well as being an integral part of the P&L reporting for NPD (new product development) and products within the beans variants portfolio.

Further to this I have been fortunate to be involved in a variety of ad-hoc projects – from consumer PR campaigns, to Above The Line advertising and packaging development which has included travel to other European countries.

The main thing I enjoy most about my job is the responsibility and autonomy I have, as well as the variety: not one single day is the same. It is fast-paced and challenging, but I get a huge amount of support and training. Everyone is very supportive; even though I am a graduate I get the opportunity to talk to and influence senior management. I also get to work on one of the countries biggest iconic brands which is brilliant.
