The recruitment process

It’s not just our products that are quick and easy to enjoy – we’ve made sure applying for our graduate programme is just as simple. No long, drawn-out recruitment processes. No jumping through hoops. Just a simple form to fill in and that’s it.  If you’ve got the kind of experience, skills and thinking we’re looking for , you’ll be invited to our one-day assessment centre.

Application form

You can download a copy of the application form in the ‘how to apply' section of the website. There are some important things to remember when completing an application form, here are the key ones:

·         Do your research on Heinz. If you send us a generic application form it is unlikely to be successful

·         Differentiate yourself. Take every opportunity to show us what makes you different and how that difference could bring an advantage to Heinz.

·         First impressions count. Pay attention to your spelling, grammar and formatting. A poorly presented application form can indicate low professional standards.

·         Give specific answers to the competency based questions. We want to know about specific situations you have been in, the actions you personally took and the result you achieved. Generic examples such as ‘I do this all the time on my part-time job…’ or hypothetical answers such as ‘I would always tackle this type of situation by….’ Will score little or no points.

·         Get creative. We are looking for creative, fresh, innovative ideas and this will bag you lots of extra points.

Assessment centre

It will last just under a full day and will involve a series of exercises designed to observe your personal skills in a variety of different situations. We’re not expecting you to shine in every exercise, but we are looking to understand if you possess the skills we are looking for and to identify where your strengths and development areas might be.  We will be sending you a presentation title in advance that we will ask you to deliver to a small group on the day. You can also expect to take part in a group discussion and at least one interview and some tests. However, if we invite you through to this stage you can expect a lot more information to help you to prepare and do your best on the day.
